Sexy Sleek Looking Skin Tight Jeans

Sexy skin tight jeans, whether you are a fan or not it is the hottest jeans in town! Tight jeans have been popular since the 1980’s, back then it was the fashion norm among the teens. Wearing tightskin tight jeans were the early Mod scene and very popular to both men and women especially among the youth culture fashions.

Happy Birthday Barneys Girl!

So even though I said I’ll be away for awhile, I just had to wish BG happy birthday with our traditional birthday post!

First off, a must-have for this season -booties! This lovely pair is by Christian Louboutin (thus obviously only possible for me to send her a pair via a blog post!) Booties are a bit last season and the new twist for the season are the peep-toe booties. But since we’re both uncomfortable with peep-toe boots (imagine if it snowed,) this pair would be great!

As BG mentioned in a post a few weeks ago, she’s been wanting a white coat. This coat by Mackage Elle is so cute and classic!
The Tudor Silk Dress was the first thing that caught our eye this season at FCUK. We love the folded bits at the top and the way the longer strips would move with the dress (we imagine.) This would be perfect for so many events -just think!
BG’s been meaning to get a pair JBrand’s Low Rise Cigarette Leg Jeans for awhile. We’ve heard great things about it and they look perfect to tuck into boots.
And a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs boots to go with the skinny jeans.
A pair of heels, again by Christian Louboutin (-can’t resist!) They look painful to wear, but fierce!
BG is constantly looking into which eye cream to buy next. Dr. Brandt’s Lineless Eye Cream sounds good on the Sephora website (as everything does,) but the reviews over at MUA haven’t been great. Has anyone tried it? Leave a comment!
Marc by Marc Jacobs had a similar looking dress in gold last year -remember, the one Blair wore in the Thanksgiving episode! Since it turned out to be so popular, the people over at Marc must have realised what a sellable merchandise this style is and made another one this season! Make sure to at least try it on this season, BG! (Although I am worried that it would make one look old -not everyone can carry it off as fabulously as Blair did!)
I would, of course, include a bag from our favourite accessories brand, Miu Miu. Even though I know BG is not into vintage styles, this bag looks very comfortable to carry around and the size looks just right.
BG never gets enough of eye shadow palettes so here’s another one. But I don’t think she’s got a black and white one yet so here’s one by Laura Mercier.
The Sprinkles Cupcake Tower is SO cute! It’s such a brilliant alternative to the typical birthday cake (though I’m guessing way more expensive.) Make a wish and blow out your candles BG -happy birthday!

10 summer fashion must haves

Just so the guys don’t feel left out, I thought I’d share with you what I have been buying for myself and for my male clients so we can look oh so cool as the weather (finally) warms up.

1. The off white blazer. It’s the transformational piece of the summer. It has the formality of a dinner jacket, but it’s made of cotton and, ideally, it’s a bit cropped and tight to the body. Dress it down with jeans and wear it everywhere you want to look “oh so cool.” Think Ashton Kutcher on the cover of Details.

Buy the Gucci one he’s wearing if your budget allows. I bought the version from Philip Lim 3.1 (shown here) for $695 at Jake on Oak Street. It feels amazing on! Banana Republic makes a shawl collared version from their Heritage Collection for $375. [ad#ads160x600right]

2. The skinny tie. If you must wear a tie, it should be a skinny one or at the very least  much skinnier than the one you are most probably currently wearing. Unless you shop in the big and tall department, your tie should be no more than 2 inches in width, and this summer, preferably in a bold rep pattern. Try Jil Sander, Z Zegna, Theory, Band of Outsiders or Dries Van Noten.

I can’t live without my Band of Outsiders ties, which you can find at Barneys, Apartment Number 9 and Jake. For summer I bought a silk cream and yellow rep stripe by Dries van Noten at Barneys, $155. I also bought a red and white horizontal stripe knit tie from Alexandre Savile Row, $95, at Macy’s State Street. Both of them look amazing with a white shirt! (See #5 below.)

3. The trainer shoe. This summer I can’t live without Puma’s AMQ canvas street low top designed by Alexander McQueen, $200. Only 100 pairs were made and they are available at Saks (while supplies last, as they say.)

4. The terry cloth shoe insert. Unless you are at work, you don’t have to/shouldn’t wear socks in the warm weather months–even with dress shoes. Buy yourself several pairs of the “Cool Off” terry cloth shoe inserts from Aldo, $6.99. They will absorb the sweat and smell from your bare feet, and you can throw them in the wash like socks. Pure genius. Consider this must have a gift from me to you!

5. The narrow collar trim fit white dress shirt. Enough said. It’s the only shirt that looks right now. Just go buy one that fits that exact description.

6. The trim fit polo. Hugo Boss Orange Label at the flagship store on Michigan Avenue carries the best one of the season in 3 colors, black with blue sleeve detail, brown with yellow and cream with gray. Peer polo, $75.

7. The pinstripe white cotton pant. Wear it casually with a polo or throw a black sportcoat over it with a white shirt. Either way, you look completely appropriate when you need to navigate the vast wasteland between jeans and dress pants. You can find the “Producer” pant at Express for $39.50. But the best one can be found at Club Monaco. I bought myself and my clients the Ethan model with black stripe, $129. It comes already cuffed, which makes it look sleek and ultra cool.

8. The ribbon belt. If you don’t want to wear a tie, you can still look polished if you wear a ribbon belt instead of a leather one. Club Monaco makes 7 different colors, $39.

9. The skinny black jean. You don’t have to pay a lot for a great one. Express has the best pair around for $99. Just steam out the creative wrinkling. I’ve bought them for all my clients and they love them. The find of the summer, for me, is the midnight blue mineral wash stretch denim at American Apparel for $68. I’m going to live in that pair all summer.

10. Anything in Yves Klein blue. Try the J Lindeberg golf shirt at Stockholm Objects in Hinsdale, $96, or my pick, the Oliver Striped ribbon belt at Club Monaco for $39.

And guys, let me know what you can’t live without this season……

Happy shopping!

Cacharel Vintage

I know I know, who’s looking at pretty Liberty print when everyone is focused on black leather and slashing leggings and jeans etc?  I will attempt to fashion digress anyway as these photos have been languishing on my memory card and I need to start clearing stuff off.

The Cacharel show in Paris last month was a 2-for-1 affair. The first half showcased the collection that Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto designed, giving a new direction for Cacharel and it was filled with leanings towards school uniforms and finally, the Eley Kishimoto that we’re familiar with definitely started to shine through.

Then to celebrate the label’s 50th birthday, dozens of models came out for a second part of the show and they were clad in vintage Liberty floral print shirts and dresses and it finally ended with Cacharel founder Jean Bousequet taking a bow.

This also happens to signify the last of the Liberty print at Cacharel as both Mark and Wakako are keen to establish a unique identity for Cacharel with their own unique prints.  So as I snapped this very sweet setup Cacharel had going on in their showroom, dedicated to the Liberty vintage prints, I suddenly remembered my own Liberty print Cacharel vest that I saved up for in my cutesy-obsessed youth when I loved all things floral and ditzy (still do to a certain extent…).

An end of an era indeed as these Liberty print pieces will be sold in certain department stores next season, and probably never to be seen again.
